The Squirrel Hill Pierogis, behind a great outing from Doug Kellar defeated the Olympia Ogres, 3-1, at The Ogre Den. In 8 innings, Kellar surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Abraham Catron earned the save for Squirrel Hill, his 10th of the year.
Squirrel Hill used the timely hitting of Shan-tang Zhou to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pierogis on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you beat me, you beat me, if not, good things will happen," said Kellar.
Squirrel Hill is now 20-28, Olympia 23-25.
