The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles picked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, knocking off the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 4-3. Starting pitcher George Young played a key role in the triumph. The Screaming Eagles, at 33-40, sit in 9th place in the Premier AA.

Joe Baker dealt the Pierogis a blow in the bottom of the eighth. Batting with the bases loaded and Mercer Island leading 3-0, Baker, who is tied for 5th in the PAA with a .904 OPS, hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single.

Baker called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
