Manatees Score Late to Upend Generals, 2-0
|
The Matlacha Manatees beat the Washington Generals, 2-0, at Fuller Park. Starting pitcher Fernando Hernández was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Washington is 6-12 after the loss.
Matlacha went up, 2-0, on Sebastien Fiori's 2nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Fiori hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Washington pitcher Clifford Smith shaking his head.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Manatees manager Howard Lee. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
