Nuevo Mexico beat Crescent City at Mariachi Band Shell, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Bruce Wood. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Nuevo Mexico reliever Burt Dickerson picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Carl Gray took the loss. The Mariachis now own a record of 39-36.

Wood had a timely hit for Nuevo Mexico in the bottom of the eighth. With Nuevo Mexico trailing 3-2, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Nuevo Mexico.

"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Wood told the Nuevo Mexico Observer.
