The Vancouver Vipers beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 9-3, at Vipers Ballpark. The Vipers got a fine performance from second baseman Rich Loudermilk, who slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Tae-kyun Hong was the winner. He's now 5-5. The loser was 22-year old left-handed pitcher George Young. Derek MacIntosh collected his 1st save.

Early in the game, Loudermilk had a 3-run home run for Vancouver. It was his 28th home run of the season and put the Vipers on top, 3-0.

"This was a nice win for us," said Loudermilk. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

Vancouver is now 46-32.
