Minch Powers Miners to 9-3 Win
The Marquette Miners defeated the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 9-3, at Field of the Rawhides. Aloysius Minch, the 3rd overall pick in the 2056 draft, was a standout performer for Marquette. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 3 he knocked in. Marcus Thomas, the winner, improved to 3-6. He held the Pierogis to 1 run on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Thomas Reed closed the game out for Marquette, earning his 1st save.

With Marquette leading 3-1 in the top of the sixth, Minch hit a fastball from Diego Manchego for a bases-clearing double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Miners ahead, 6-1.

"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Minch.

The Pierogis, now 34-45, have lost 8 in a row.
