Atoms Procure 7-2 Victory
|
At Experimental Stadium, the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs and Bethesda Atoms were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Bethesda starter Roberto Valdéz pitched well against the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs at Experimental Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-2. Valdéz got the win, improving to 4-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 8.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
Bethesda used a clutch at-bat from Brett Alexander to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Atoms ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
In postgame comments to the Bethesda Bulletin, Alexander said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Atoms now have a record of 39-40.
