Pittsburgh Defeated By Rainbow Mermaids, 5-4

Crowds lined up early in front of Atlantica, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2063 United States Premier League season. On the mound was Richard Miller for the visiting Pittsburgh Kingfishers and Mitsuo Yoshida for the hometown Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. In a spirited contest, the Rainbow Mermaids pulled out the win, defeating the Kingfishers by the score of 5-4. Especially impressive was Mitsuo Yoshida.
Had Garry Park not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Park hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Rainbow Mermaids.
"Mitsuo's a gamer," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister. "Glad he's on our side."
