The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles wasted an inspired, 8.1-inning effort from starter Fernando López, falling, 2-1, to the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Mercer Island Grounds. The 7th-place Mariachis hiked their record to 39-44.

Bryan Catron helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Mariachis.

"Tough loss," said Mercer Island manager Eric Todd. "This one will sting for a while."
