Screaming Eagles Lose, 5-4, at Field of the Rawhides
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis finished off the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 5-4. Much of the credit belonged to catcher Larry English. English was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Pierogis. Squirrel Hill reliever Harris Atteveld picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jeremy Bush took the loss. The win has Squirrel Hill at 36-58.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fifth. That's when Pierogis left fielder Bob Cole hit a fastball from Jeremy Bush for a 2-run single. Just like that, Squirrel Hill was up, 4-3.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said English.
