Screaming Eagles Paste 2-1 Loss on Pierogis
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles eked out a 2-1 win versus the Squirrel Hill Pierogis at Field of the Rawhides. Nobody did more than designated hitter Ricardo López. He was terrific. The win was credited to 28-year old right-handed pitcher Eliot Thompson in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Doug Kellar took the loss. Manny Sexton recorded the save for Mercer Island, his 19th of the season.
The Screaming Eagles got a big at-bat from third baseman David Acevedo. For the game, Acevedo went 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Mercer Island a 2-1 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said López.
With the win, the Screaming Eagles improved to 42-53.
