Cortés Powers Screaming Eagles Offense
Mercer Island center fielder Pedro Cortés contributed significantly to his team's 9-5 win over the Squirrel Hill Pierogis. Cortés went 4 for 5 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Screaming Eagles. John Sanders picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Milo Church, who is rated as the 45th best prospect by BNN, was tagged with the loss. Mercer Island, at 43-53, sits in 9th place in the Premier AA.

In the top of the ninth, Cortés hit a tie-breaking grand slam home run to help the Screaming Eagles capture the win.
