River Rats Turn Away Manatees, 2-1
|
River Rats third baseman Rickey Rush put his stamp on his team's 2-1 win over the Matlacha Manatees. Rush went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Columbia in the contest. José Bojórquez, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 4-3. Earning his 3rd save of the year was George Harris.
With Columbia trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Rush hit a fastball from Andrew Johnson for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the River Rats ahead, 2-1.

With the win, the River Rats have a record of 18-13.
