Bulls Even Record with 3-1 Victory
|
Peyton Larson, who is tied for 5th in the 3A in strikeouts with 39, never let the Hawks get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Bulls to a win, 3-1. Larson, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Scot Dixon notched his 8th save of the season.
Belleville first baseman Dimacali Lontok contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 36th hit of the season and put the Bulls ahead, 2-0.
Larson told a Belleville Citizen reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The Bulls, at 16-16, sit in 6th place in the Menard's A.
