Though he had a terrific game, Chuck Gray could not prevent his team, the Belleville Bulls, from absorbing a loss. Alameda won the game, 5-4. Gray hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Alameda has now won 3 straight, while the Bulls have lost 3 in a row.

The Airmen took the lead in the top of the fifth when Jesús Rivera banged a two-out single. Alameda had been trailing 3-2, but Rivera hit a 2-0 fastball from Norm Sizemore for a 2-run single.

"It was a solid team effort," said Rivera after the game.
