Chiefs Pull Off Thrilling 10-3 Win in Extras
|
The Caldwell Chiefs beat the Laredo Hawks, 10-3, in 10 innings. Caldwell pitcher and Buenos Aires, Argentina, native Carlos Pereira led the way. After today's action, Caldwell sits at 16-19, while Laredo falls to 18-17.
Caldwell used the clutch hitting of Cecil Burke to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Chiefs the lead, 4-3. For the game, Burke had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Laredo manager José Gato.
