River Rats Win, 4-2, Versus Mancelona
|
The Columbia River Rats topped the Mancelona Torch, 4-2, with youngster Curt Strickland playing a key role. Strickland was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the River Rats in the win. Ramón Acosta, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save. The defeat makes Mancelona 16-20.
Strickland had a timely hit for Columbia in the top of the eighth. With Columbia trailing 2-1, he turned a 2-2 cutter into a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 4-2, Columbia.
"I thought we played a nice game," Strickland told the Columbia Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
