In a low-scoring affair between the Mancelona Torch and the Rocky Mountain Vibes, pitcher Balduíno Leomil was the difference between victory and defeat. The Mancelona right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Torch win. The winner was Mancelona reliever Cliff Clark, now 1-0. The loser was Juan López. With the win, Mancelona goes to 17-20, while the Vibes fall to 23-14.
Had Larry Armstrong not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Armstrong hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Torch.
Mancelona manager Kevin Hancock praised his team's "energy."
