A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Columbia River Rats and Matlacha Manatees.
Right-hander John Moore mesmerized the Matlacha Manatees while leading the Columbia River Rats to a 4-0 victory. Moore got the win, improving to 5-1. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed no runs.
Columbia used a clutch at-bat from Jean-Jacques François Jacques-Jean to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the River Rats ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Moore.
The River Rats improved their record to 34-20 by beating Matlacha.
