Bulls Score 6-3 Win Against Matlacha
|
The Belleville Bulls defeated the Matlacha Manatees, 6-3, in M3L Single A action at Belleville Field. Belleville pitcher Richie Ayala had a standout performance. In 6.2 innings, Ayala surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. Scot Dixon earned the save, his 10th, for the Bulls.
Jim Henry went 1 for 4 for Belleville. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Michael Phipps. It was his 21st RBI of the season.
Henry said his team "played with determination."
With the win, Belleville goes to 31-24, while the Manatees fall to 11-44.
