|
Laredo first baseman Grease Zerk played a vital role in his team's 8-5 conquest of Caldwell. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Laredo. Andy Lewis earned the save for Laredo, his 1st. The Hawks now have a mark of 29-27.
Tom Bennett came through with a big-time hit for Laredo. The pinch hitter smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 8-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
