Tight Tilt Goes to Airmen, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Alameda Airmen and the Belleville Bulls, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Frank McConnell proved to be the difference. The Alameda right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Airmen win. The triumph puts Alameda at 32-32 for the season.
Eduardo Morales had a big solo home run for the Airmen in the bottom of the third inning. With Alameda leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a cutter from Ken Wilson, who is tied for 4th in the 3A in complete games with 1, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Airmen ahead, 2-0.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Morales said.
