Columbia Pins 4-1 Loss on Hawks
|
Columbia used a superb performance from starting pitcher Haden Manning to down the Laredo Hawks, 4-1. Manning got the win, improving to 9-3. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Gerald Sutton earned the save for Columbia, his 7th.
Columbia used the stroke of Carlos Ríos to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the River Rats ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Ríos called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
Columbia is now 39-27.
