Chiefs Earn 4-3 Win Versus Bulls
|
The Caldwell Chiefs scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Belleville Bulls at Belleville Field. Caldwell pitcher Elliott Halcomb held his own in the contest. Halcomb, now 3-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Caldwell is 10th in the Menard's A with a record of 33-39.
Caldwell used the timely hitting of Rafael Fernández to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Belleville manager Rafael Avelar.
