Multi-HR Day for Rush as River Rats Overpower Manatees, 6-3
|
The Columbia River Rats beat the Matlacha Manatees, 6-3, at Columbia Stadium. Columbia first baseman Rickey Rush led the way. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Earning his 9th save for Columbia was Ramón Acosta. The win boosted Columbia to 45-27.
Rush contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Columbia in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Rush took a fastball from Javier Velázquez and stroked the home run to right. His 10th home run of the season allowed the River Rats to leap in front, 4-2.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Matlacha manager Howard Lee.
