The Delmarva Gallos downed the Washington Generals, 1-0, at Washington Park. Stellar pitching by Lewis Smith had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 7th in the 3A with a 1.15 WHIP, handcuffed his opponent all game. Rob Hopkins notched his 2nd save in 2 chances. The second-place Gallos have won 4 consecutive games.

Delmarva used a well-timed hit by Jorge Ramírez to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Gallos ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Makes our job easier," said Ramírez, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
