Walleye Win at Caldwell, 6-2

A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Walla Walla Walleye and Caldwell Chiefs.
The Walla Walla Walleye defeated the Caldwell Chiefs, 6-2, in USSL Single A action at Pipers Ballpark. Walla Walla pitcher Jonathan Kemp had a standout performance. Kemp, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.
Had Henry Hayes not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hayes hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Walleye.
"Feels good to get the job done," Kemp said after the game.
With their winning streak at 4, the Walleye have raced to a strong start this season.
