Walla Walla Walleye starter Layton Irving pitched a strong game against the Holy City Herons at Mango Yard, leading the Walleye to victory, 5-4. Walla Walla pitcher Ron Smith earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Aaron Valdivieso suffered the loss. The Walleye have an impressive 13-7 record.

Walla Walla used the timely hitting of Felipe Mendoza to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Walleye on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Layton gave us a heck of an effort," said Walla Walla manager Félix Cruz.
