Smoky Mountain turned a good effort from starter Gijsbert Arents into a win over the Grim Reapers at Smokies Stadium. The Hobeaus won the game, 2-0. Arents picked up the win for Smoky Mountain, going 8 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Mario García nailed down his 3rd save.
The Hobeaus got a big hit from third baseman Jim Morgan. Facing Grim pitcher Cecil Cornett in the bottom of the fifth, Morgan pounded a solo home run to right. His 4th home run of the season put the Hobeaus ahead, 2-0.
Morgan said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
With the victory, the Hobeaus upped their record to 11-9.
