Brennan Riggs, who is rated as the 37th best prospect by BNN, was in top form in a tight contest between Smoky Mountain and Grim. The Hobeaus right-hander helped his team beat the Reapers, 3-1. Kyle Brock closed out the game, earning his 1st save. Smoky Mountain has now won 3 straight, while the Reapers have lost 3 in a row.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Hobeaus had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when designated hitter Naofumi Shibutani hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Juan De La Rosa and made the score 2-0, Hobeaus. Shibutani was 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Smoky Mountain skipper Belchior Tinoco.
