Álvarez Shines in 6-0 Philadelphia Win
The Philadelphia Liberty U-24 downed the Levittown Blue Dragons, 6-0, at Liberty Youth Field. Ben Álvarez led the way, going 4-for-4 for Philadelphia. Bryan Miller, the winner, is now 2-2. He struck out 8 and walked 0 over 7.1 innings, while allowing no runs on 4 hits. Chad May got the save, the 2nd for him this season.

There was more than one reason the Liberty U-24 beat the Blue Dragons, but Álvarez's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

Álvarez told a Philadelphia Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The win elevated the Liberty U-24 to 15-10.
