Liberty U-24 Pull Out Late Win, 2-1
|
The Levittown Blue Dragons wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter Lee Kennedy, falling, 2-1, to the Philadelphia Liberty U-24 at Liberty Youth Field. The 5th-place Blue Dragons have lost 4 straight games.
Ben Álvarez was the walk-off hero for Philadelphia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Liberty U-24 first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Runs were tough to come by," said Álvarez. "But we scored just enough to win."
