The 5-2 Columbia win over Grim was due largely to Boyd Pugh. The River Rats third baseman went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Armando Hernández was called on to finish, recording his 4th save. The 5th-place Reapers have lost 6 straight games.

With Columbia leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Pugh hit a cutter from Cecil Cornett for a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the River Rats ahead, 2-0.
