Bush Pilots Squeeze By Monroeville, 1-0
|
The Alaskan Bush Pilots got a magnificent effort from pitcher Chris Waters, who kept Monroeville hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Bush Pilots win at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Alaskan pitcher Lonnie Baldazo earned the win, hiking his record to 3-0. Jai-guo Chio suffered the loss. Bryan Massey nailed down his 11th save.
Charlie Lawson's at-bat with no one out in the top of the eighth was critical. The Alaskan designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put his team on top, 1-0. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Alaskan manager Arturo Montáñez. "That's what Chris is right now."
The third-place Bush Pilots have won 4 straight.
