Walla Walla Offense Jammed Up by Hobeaus
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus picked up a win at Smokies Stadium, defeating the Walla Walla Walleye, 3-1. Starting pitcher Héctor Rodríguez was an essential part of his team's success. The winning pitcher was Rodríguez, now 2-4. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Smoky Mountain now owns a record of 17-16.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Hobeaus had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when designated hitter Jacob Barrett hit a 2-run single. The single came off Brady Roy and made the score 2-0, Hobeaus. Barrett was 4-4 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"Makes our job easier," said Barrett, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
