Blue Dragons Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Levittown Blue Dragons and Walla Walla Walleye.
Walla Walla got a big-time effort from pitcher Lu-po-teh Fong, but it wasn't enough to keep the Levittown Blue Dragons from winning the game, 2-1. Fong threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Levittown reliever Flip Boele picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Lu-po-teh Fong took the loss. Orlando Sánchez earned the save for Levittown, his 11th.
The Blue Dragons got a big at-bat from right fielder Jessie Wynn. For the game, Wynn was 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Levittown a 2-0 lead.
Wynn expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The victory gives Levittown a record of 18-16.
