Grand Forks Caterpillars starter Luther Jackson pitched his team past the Yucca Valley Yellows, 6-1. The winner was Jackson. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jesús Hernández. The triumph makes Grand Forks 15-28.
John Carey had a big run-scoring triple for the Caterpillars in the top of the fourth inning. With Grand Forks leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Jesús Hernández, who leads the SA in innings pitched with 69.1, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Caterpillars ahead, 3-0.
"Luther is good at sticking to his strengths," said Grand Forks manager Oriol Razo.
