The Caldwell Chiefs and Holy City Herons played an exciting game.

The Caldwell Chiefs earned a close win over the Holy City Herons, thanks in part to Casey Gallagher. The Caldwell right-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the SA in quality starts with 8, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. The Chiefs raised their record to 26-22.

The Herons had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Chiefs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman José Valéncia came to the plate. Valéncia hit a solo home run on a 0-1 cutter from Holy City hurler Sam van de Weideven. It was Valéncia's 7th home run of the year.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Holy City manager Ralph Horn. "But we decided not to take it."
