Yellows Snag 7-3 Win
|
The Yucca Valley Yellows picked up a win at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium, topping the Monroeville Yinzers, 7-3. On the mound for Yucca Valley was right-hander Tony Icaza. He played a principal role in the triumph. Icaza, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 8.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The Yellows now have a record of 25-24 with the win over Monroeville.
Yucca Valley needed the clutch hitting of Xavier Hernández to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yellows on top, 7-3. For the game, Hernández had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Tony gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Yucca Valley skipper Ernest Orr.
