The Grand Forks Caterpillars rode a solid performance from 22-year-old starting pitcher Alfred Porter to a win, beating the Walla Walla Walleye, 3-2, at The Cocoon. The winning pitcher was Porter, now 1-6. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. Grand Forks is now 18-31, Walla Walla 27-22.

J.J. Johns had a big solo home run for the Caterpillars in the bottom of the third inning. With Grand Forks leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Greg Stone and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Caterpillars on top, 3-0.

Johns told a Grand Forks Bulletin reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
