Herons Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Reapers
|
The Holy City Herons got a good effort from starter Fred Ducklow in defeating the Grim Reapers at Mango Yard. The final score was 3-2. Ducklow, now 6-1, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Silver A-leading Herons have a record of 35-15.
Had Travis Junior not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Junior hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Herons.
"Fred gave us a heck of an effort," said Holy City manager Ralph Horn.
