Bush Pilots Top Reapers in Extras, 7-4
|
The Alaskan Bush Pilots faced a tough opponent in Grim pitcher Cecil Cornett, but found a way to pull out the victory at The Coffin by a final score of 7-4 in 11 innings. Cornett went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. Bryan Massey earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He upped his record to 2-2. With the win over Grim, the Bush Pilots improved to 29-24.
Alaskan used the timely hitting of Rusty Sorenson to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Bush Pilots on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Alaskan manager Arturo Montáñez.
