Mango Yard was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Holy City Herons and Alaskan Bush Pilots.
The Holy City Herons stopped the Alaskan Bush Pilots, 4-3, at Mango Yard. The Herons got a big game from Ryan Plaistowe, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Holy City reliever Ralph Fryfogle snagged the win, upping his record to 2-2. Whip Linkletter shouldered the loss. Fred Ducklow sewed up the save, his 5th.
Had Brian Martin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Martin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Herons.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Plaistowe.
With the victory, the Herons record stands at 27-34.
