Smokies Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Grand Forks Caterpillars and Smoky Mountain Hobeaus.

Smoky Mountain got a strong outing from Héctor Rodríguez as the Hobeaus defeated the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 4-2, at Smokies Stadium. Rodríguez got the win, improving to 6-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Ron Hansen sewed up the save, his 14th.

Smoky Mountain took a 4-2 lead on Dax Saldaña's 17th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Saldaña hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Grand Forks pitcher Ánibal Gonzáles visibly frustrated.

"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Rodríguez.

The victory gives Smoky Mountain a record of 38-33.
