Walleye Pull Off Thrilling 4-2 Win in Extras
|
The Walla Walla Walleye picked up a win at The Cave at Levittown, knocking off the Levittown Blue Dragons, 4-2, in 14 innings. On the mound for Walla Walla was right-hander Max Payne. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. António Díaz picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-3. Flip Boele was tagged with the loss. The win puts the Walleye at 48-26, while the Blue Dragons drop to 36-38.
Walla Walla used the timely hitting of Pancho Traveso to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Walleye on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Payne.
