Yucca Valley Topples Holy City, 4-2
|
Yucca Valley parlayed a decent outing from starter Mark Chandler into a solid win over the Holy City Herons. The final score was 4-2. Chandler, now 4-7, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The save was credited to Ed Hull, his 1st.
The Yellows got a big boost from designated hitter Xavier Hernández who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the first inning off Herons hurler Artie Cotton. It was his 26th RBI of the season and put Yucca Valley on top, 1-0.
"Mark attacked hitters and trusted his stuff," said Yucca Valley manager Ernest Orr.
Yucca Valley is now 32-43, while Holy City is 34-41.
