Smoky Mountain Loses Again, 7-1
|
The Walla Walla Walleye topped the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 7-1, with youngster Olakeakua Gymea playing a key role. Gymea went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Walleye in the win. Dan Spears, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. Smoky Mountain is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
Ze-dong Jen cracked a home run off Jaime Cruz in the top of the first. His 2-run blast put the Walleye on top, 2-0. In all, Jen had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Afterward, Smoky Mountain manager Belchior Tinoco said: "Every team has a bad week."
