The Holy City Herons picked up a win at Mango Yard, topping the Yucca Valley Yellows, 3-1. On the mound for Holy City was right-hander Bartolo Martínez. He played a principal role in the triumph. With the victory, the Herons upped their record to 57-37.

Had Pedro Rey not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Rey hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Herons.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Martínez. "Successful pitchers do it."
