Walla Walla Slaps 4-2 Loss on Lake Erie
|
The Walla Walla Walleye knocked off the Lake Erie Arryns, 4-2, in USSL Single A action at Walleye Tank. Walla Walla pitcher and Canmore, Canada, native Layton Irving had an outstanding performance. The winner was Irving. He threw 8.1 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Frank Hurst. At 56-40, the Walleye claim second place in the Silver A.
Felipe Mendoza came through for Walla Walla with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the first. The third baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in.
After the game, Walla Walla manager Félix Cruz applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
