Vandals Need Extra Innings to Top Hobeaus, 6-4
Victor Haynes was instrumental in his team's 6-4, extra-inning triumph over the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus. The first baseman was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Eugene Vandals. The Vandals improved their record to 13-13 with the win over Smoky Mountain.

The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Haynes delivered big-time for Eugene, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Albert Longoria. The game-changing hit put the Vandals on top, 4-3.

Eugene manager Milton Mathews was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
